India Office, August 15, 1907. I AM directed by the Secretary of State for India in Council to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th August, in which you inquire whether he concurs in Sir J. Jordan's proposal in respect of the trade in prepared opium between Hong Kong and China. I am to say in reply that Mr. Secretary Morley sees no objection to this proposal, so far as the Indian opium trade or the measures relating to it at present under discussion are concerned.
